Frequently Asked Questions

Is VeniDirect a Laboratory?

VeniDirect is not a laboratory. We are a private pay-for-service mobile blood and specimen collection service. We send a certified phlebotomy technician to your home to collect your samples and deliver them to the laboratory you or your doctor have chosen for testing. The laboratory is responsible for all testing.

What Will This Cost Me/My Patient?

The convenience fee and the fee(s) associated with your medically necessary laboratory test(s) are two different costs: The convenience fee to have a VeniDirect certified mobile phlebotomist come to your home or business is $49.00 per visit. In most instances, your health insurance carrier will not cover the convenience fee and it will be collected through the website via credit or debit card. Medically necessary lab testing is generally covered by participating insurers in accordance with the terms of your insurance policy. Please consult with your insurance carrier if you have any questions regarding whether the lab services and/or convenience fee will be covered and whether any co-pays, deductibles, or coinsurance will apply.

Who Performs the Blood Draw?

Each of our phlebotomists is well-trained and has a minimum of three (3) years of experience drawing blood in a hospital, clinic, or laboratory setting. As part of the lengthy background screening process, criminal records, licenses, education, and employment records are checked.

What Safety Precautions Are Being Taken for Onsite Visits?

Our fully vaccinated technicians and staff are taking all necessary precautions to make it safe for you to receive the care you need - when you need it. Please Note: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks (covering both the nose & mouth) and temperature checks are required for anyone present during a scheduled appointment. Our technicians have been instructed to refuse service to any individual who refuses to uphold these standards. Children under the age of 2 are the only ones exempt from this mandate.

Which Areas Do You Serve?

We perform blood draws at your home or office in the Portland metropolitan area and the neighboring cities of Vancouver, Beaverton, Gresham, Hillsboro, Milwaukie, Lake Oswego, Oregon City, Fairview, Wood Village, Troutdale, Tualatin, Tigard, West Linn, Battle Ground, Camas, and Washougal. We also offer service outside of the areas listed above. We include up to 50 roundtrip miles with your order; anything beyond that will be invoiced at $0.59 per mile. Example: The phlebotomist travels from the VeniDirect HQ in Portland to your home in Kaiser and back. The roundtrip distance was 85 miles. Our standard service area covers 50 miles roundtrip. This leaves 35 miles uncovered. You will be charged an additional mileage fee of $20.65 in this case.

Can I Pay For My Appointment With My Health Insurance?

At this time, our services can only be purchased with a credit card, debit card, Apple pay, Samsung pay, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

Which Lab Performs the Blood Tests?

Laboratory tests are conducted by the lab listed on your order. Otherwise, you can choose the lab you want to handle them. After we draw your blood, we deliver the specimens and paperwork to the specified lab. It's the same as going to the lab, but without the hassle.

How Are the Specimens Handled?

We handle and prepare the specimens according to strict guidelines for the specified lab tests. It's vital to centrifuge the specimen within the specified timeframe and maintain a consistent temperature range.

How Do I Get My Lab Test Results?

Your provider shares your results with you in the same manner as before. We simply take care of getting your blood drawn and the specimens processed and delivered to the lab. Results for labs ordered through Ulta Lab Test can be accessed through your patient portal.

Can I Choose the Same Phlebotomist Each Time?

Absolutely! While your first encounter is chosen based on our phlebotomists' availability, you will have the option of choosing the same person for subsequent visits.
